Intervention Services Diminish Events Leading to a Crisis

You are put in a difficult situation if your significant other is battling addiction. It may be hard to even fathom bringing up the topic of intervention services. Many individuals may be overwhelmed with this problem and try to solve it alone. In fact, guilt may start to build up and they may feel responsible for their partner’s addiction. An individual may immerse themselves in this unhealthy environment and isolate themselves from outside help. By putting up with this destructive behavior, the individual is creating a comfortable atmosphere where the abuse problem is not addressed and the behaviors will easily continue.

Setting Boundaries with the Help of a Drug Interventionist

A drug interventionist can help establish boundaries when a couple cannot determine them alone. Setting limits is the first serious step as it is important in letting an addict know that you will not be around while they are under the influence. Keeping a certain amount of distance between yourself and the addict will help ensure your safety and help keep you emotionally stable during this confusing time. Caring and providing support is necessary in helping an addict but you cannot continuously give to someone else at your expense. There is a fine line between your personal problems and the problems of someone you love. Many people need help with these limits to effectively tackle drug rehabilitation.

Drug Rehab Intervention without the Fear of Change

A formal drug rehab intervention can assist by providing an organized plan of action. These services help break the cycle of addiction and in the very least, let the addict know that there is a way out. Some believe that an addict can only overcome addiction when they willingly ask for assistance, but intervention can help initiate this development. Professional intervention provides a more accurate assessment of one’s addiction. This helps to determine the most appropriate treatment approach. Fear of change can hinder both parties when it comes to getting treatment. Loved ones may find themselves doing whatever it takes to rescue the addict because of guilt. And addicts may come up with excuses or change their reasoning to rationalize their behaviors.

Prescription Drug Addictions Require Special Prescription Drug Detox Programs

Withdrawal From Prescription Drug Addiction

Prescription drug addiction can be very hard to recover from. Withdrawal symptoms during a cold-turkey OxyContin detox are legendary, and they go on for days. Unassisted OxyContin withdrawal includes nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, sweating, agitation, digestive upset, goose bumps, dilated pupils, runny nose, sleeplessness, and anxiety. Almost everyone who tries it, abandons cold-turkey OxyContin detox, and soon returns to their life of addiction.

Why A Prescription Drug Detox Is Important

Unfortunately, most of those who try to stop using prescription drugs, either on their own, or with the help of a family physician, and even some of those who enroll in a local, one-size-fits-all detox center, fail to achieve their goal of recovery. Prescription drug detox done alone, or done ‘cold turkey’, is especially unsuccessful, and can actually be dangerous for some people. Even some certified medical detox program centers are unsuccessful. Many who complete such programs very soon return to drugs, because routine detox program protocols don’t take into account a number of factors essential to a successful withdrawal.

What Makes A Workable OxyContin Or Vicodin Detox Program

A good OxyContin or Vicodin detox protocol tailors the detox to a patient’s unique DNA and metabolism, and carefully considers their current health situation. A trained and experienced medical staff carefully monitors each patient around the clock. Most patients experience vastly reduced discomfort, and because of this special care, completion rates are routinely higher than other forms of addiction treatment. A truly workable, medically supervised prescription drug treatment program greatly reduces withdrawal symptoms, and it can shorten the time required to achieve success. Such a program helps patients transition sooner, and more positively, to a drug rehab program. Drug rehab is crucial to recovery for anyone with a true addiction, and rehab is always more successful the longer one spends in the program.

Treatment For Alcoholism Involves Taking Positive Action.

Everyone who has overcome acute addiction to alcoholism has taken action to face their fears. Oftentimes, in the initial stages of recovery they need for alcohol detox is necessary. While this stage of recovery is difficult and can be painful, there are professionals who can be of assistance in this process. Indeed, the fear of alcohol detox is greater than the reality of recovery when faced alone. An approach to recovery which involves professional assistance and support can be key to successful recovery.

Continuing The Path Of Recovery

After overcoming the initial stages of recovery, the main goal is to build a foundation upon which long-term recovery can be based. Some individuals find it useful to begin the next stage of sobriety at a transitional sober living facility. The benefit of this approach is that it is possible to maintain emotional support within a program focused on early sobriety issues. This approach may not be desirable for everyone in early recovery, but many individuals have gone on to long-term sobriety from the roots of transitional sober living facilities.

Onwards and Outwards

As individuals enter the world without the need for drugs and alcohol to support them, outpatient drug rehab can provide a cushion which is helpful to deal with the ordinary frictions of daily life. Outpatient drug rehab offers a mixture of talk therapy and positive re-encouragement from individuals dealing with similar issues. Counselors have the experience to offer constructive advice with regards to specific issues which clients may have regarding a wide variety of issues. While life will always offer new and challenging perspectives, it is helpful to know that you will always have advice to draw upon. It is always good to keep this small bit of wisdom in mind: Don’t Believe Everything You Think!

Drug Treatment Intervention Awareness through an Intervention TV Show

Reality vs. the Intervention AE Show

The Intervention AE television series is popular for showcasing addicts and their struggle with substance abuse. There is more to their story than what can be broadcast in the designated one hour of TV programming. People may be drawn to these personalities that they see on television, but what about people in their very own lives? It may be difficult to reach out to a loved one if you suspect that they are abusing alcohol or drugs. Many people may treat the problem like it is something that will go away on its own over time. This is untrue and addicts need someone to reach out and tell them that help is available.

A New Intervention TV Show for Young People

Overcoming addiction is a lifelong process and not many know how hard it can be. In recently celebrity news, we have seen how many people’s lives have ended due to drugs and alcohol. The recently deceased Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein just finished his own intervention tv show for MTV before his untimely death. The celebrity deejay is well-known for overcoming his own drug abuse problem. The show titled, “Gone Too Far”, revolves around Goldstein and drug interventions that aim to get troubled young people into rehabilitation programs. The series filming was complete days prior to his Goldstein’s death and MTV is in talks of moving ahead with the reality series.

Drug Treatment Intervention Helps

Addiction is a real problem and a focus on drug treatment intervention will help raise awareness on a growing crisis. Even for celebrities, money and resources do not guarantee a cure for substance abuse problems. A more educated and tolerant public will show individuals who are suffering from addiction that there is help available. As a society, it is our duty to promote the benefits of drug and alcohol treatment, praise the contributions that come from of treatment completion, and openly endorse the message that recovery is possible.

Residential Drug Treatment: Dual Diagnosis Treatment and Inpatient Rehabilitation

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Residential Drug Treatment

Drugs and alcohol are highly addictive substances that can lead perfectly happy people into a black hole of pain, loneliness, and depression. What may begin as light drinking, or light recreational drug usage can quickly turn into severe drug addiction and/or heavy alcoholism. If you or someone you know has showed any signs or symptoms of either drug addiction or alcoholism, it might be time to consider residential drug or alcohol treatment. Residential drug treatment programs, also commonly know as inpatient treatment programs, occur in residential environments. The programs often use different stages or levels that individuals must pass through throughout their recovery. The longer an individual is participating in residential drug treatment, the more stages he or she will pass through. Residential drug treatment often utilizes both individual therapy methods and group therapy methods. An individual who completes a program will often “graduate” and receive recognition of their completion of such a difficult journey.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

Dual diagnosis treatment is necessary for individuals who suffer from both chemical dependency (alcoholism or drug addiction) and a mental illness or other disorder. For patients who display such symptoms, it is important that they get the care they need. Oftentimes it is hard to know which illness developed first, therefore both must be treated equally. If one is not resolved it increases the chances for the resolved disease or disorder to return in the future.

Inpatient Rehabilitation

Inpatient rehabilitation offers recovering addicts and/or alcoholics the opportunity to regain their humanity and happiness. Most inpatient rehabilitation programs are set in calm, relaxing and peaceful environments. These environments better allow recovering addicts and/or alcoholics the opportunity to find peace with themselves. Many programs utilize individual recovery tactics and group recovery tactics, allowing the recovering individuals to form a community support network.

Frustrated by wife’s addiction

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

So frustrating when the people around me don’t do what I want them to do. My wife clearly needs some sort of family treatment treatment but she just won’t listen to reason or look at the obvious problems she’s creating with her behavior.

I’ve looked into alcohol rehab centers since they all deal with prescription pill abuse as well and they highly recommend inpatient rehab as the most effective approach to combating addiction but getting my wife to go to one of these programs is a totally different kind of combat.

I know  enough about living with a pill abuser to know that she needs to make this decision on her own but also have heard that interventions help and just want my family back they way we used to be. How can I love her when she seems to be bent on taking down everything around her?  When do I say enough is enough? We have two small children and I don’t want them to grow up in this environment.

Please pray with me that she asks for help sooner than later.
